We have waited for more than a decade and a half, patiently – everyday praying to the God of the High Heavens above that a new lease of life be given to the inhabitants of Somalia; that they may be restored back to their sanity and stop killing each other; that they may be pardoned for whatever sins they have committed, but now it is an entirely a different story, a different game and a different field. Everyday as the sun showers its grace on the face of the earth, the first thing that follows is a prayer for the doomed land – the land of my forefathers.
But we have become weary over the years with the prayers and everyday as the conflict escalates, our morale is shattered and our throats thickened and our hearts pulverized by the anger. The impetuous warlords, now with a false sense of newly-gained aplomb, still continue to terrorize the people and the country with the help of Meles, whose surreptitious activities weren’t detected earlier on. I feared the city would be turned into another Baghdad, and barely two days into the triumph of defectors who betrayed their principles and implored the enemy, and suicide bombings were reported in the capital.
And now they say we are to be united under one passport! How ridiculous.
But then, Somalia has had ample time to govern itself and build a central government, and now with the Ethiopian forces taking over the country, the chicken have simply come home to roost!
