Thank you for this very helpful post. Would be grateful if anyone can tell me more about this tree, the boa-boa (boc-boc in Somali spelling?). Apparently it is also known as the Dharkayn tree, and the district of Dharkenley was named after the tree. Can anyone verify this, please? Thank you.

Hello, I was curious if you knew if there was a different name for the talal tree. I just finished a book that has them in it but I can't find a photo representation or any other info about them.

Sincerely,
Ben Curkendall

Hi there,

I am a student in Australia studying Anthropology and am writing my thesis on the creation of home for Somali nomads. I came across your blog today and have found it to be very interesting and well written. I was wondering if you could tell me where you got that picture at the top of this page of the construction of the Aqal as I would like to use it in my paper?

Keep up the good work and thankyou,

Brother, alxamdulillah, I've learned plenty from reading your post and hopefully will use your work as a standard for writing about my trip next year. I laud your written mastery of the English and Somali language. Your descriptions of the Miyi are so vivid that even memorable fragrances radiate thence. I pray that Allah gives you the capability to write more, and I pray that Allah gives me the pleasure to read more of your works. Amin.
