Where do you even start? This is some good old fashioned colonial propaganda material. Interesting dichotomy between “raw” and “trained”.
there is nothing wrong but is da right image 2 b somali!!!
Way? from 1991 2 today is da answer so if u can’t do it some 1 we do it.
So sleve is beter dan wat we r today.
Marianne, indeed! see how the white man sits cross-legged as his ‘trained’ men surround him! These images speak volumes fro themselves…
very interesting and mind bubbling stuff. the only thing I’vent see in your page is- the thing ceelka biyaha laga soo saaro, ee laga sameeyo haraga, iyo all the cars arooska la isdaba taxo- lol. not to mention that we need to use you with your go-shaal, macawis, iyo hangoolki. lol
They have cadaan qadhmuun as leader in the second photo. Uff.
Kulmiye, you mean wadaanta ceelka lasoo daro! haha, i didn’t get a picture of that even though I had several opportunities to do so. It slipped my mind for some reason.
Xalimah, colonialism and its message eh!
I love the white glow that’s coming off the white man beyond just his skin colour. It’s almost as if he’s been photoshopped onto the photo, this is just ridiculousness and reminds me of this brilliantly sarcastic article: http://www.granta.com/extracts/2615
Shafi you are a fantastic real Somali man and who is proud of his culture and nationaty.
From London
.
Hanna Thanks for the link to the article walaal. A Great read indeed.
Suad Mahadsanid walaal. Insha-Allah more to come.
it seems, they have been trained to prevent bloodshed between feuding somali tribes in the colonial time, haddii kale waranlayaashu iyagaa dadka leyn lahaa ama is dili lahaa……….ahahah shaqo wanaagsan waaye!
malaha sawirka sare waa our tribe, as I have heard the story of our clansmen in the colonial time. we were savage fighters, who used to kill each other…………….mudo dabadeed dad ayaanu noqoney markii ingiriis la qabsadey, but right now, anagaa hormood ilbaxnimo is bideyna. ahahaha woow! thanks britania!
I disagree completely with you, waxad iska leedahey anaga waaye. but omar yare you should know that our clan was more cruel than your clan………………ku, waranka sitaa waa reerkayaga sxb. we were trained by british colonly officers, but where does your clan lived at that time, u maleyn maayo iney jireenba: laangaabnimo awgeed sxb!!
Omar Yare : Please find below your tribe’s version of “Anagoo taleex naal”
1. Duhurkii toggaa Herer haddaad qado ka soo tuurto
2. Hurdo laguma taamee naftaa lala tacaalaaye
3. Anigiyo toddoba aan ku jirey tumasho soo qaadnay.

Full poem is available on request..
Iisoo dir sxb the full poem. Waxanoo kale wali indha masaarin. Waa afsoomaaligii la yaqaanaye soo kusoo daabac halkan. Waa adoo mudanoo maraqsan.
As far as shaafi is concerned. The pictures are reality sxb and there is nothing wrong with them. It is just that maybe we as people were better off RAW or untrained; however you wanna put it.
Thanks for the pics and keeping history (as ugly as it may be) alive.
I feel Very sorry!… to see this kind of Photos….Waxay muujinayaa gumaysigii iyo halkii laynaga soo galay…. but not to forget that those pics are somehow historic.
That is paradox of history . The raw somali was proud man and fearless but the trained somali was a man who took order from a white man a sort of puppet
The white pirate looks so insecure.
My dad trained white pirates when he
came to Britain from Somalia in 1954.
The first picture is in my opinion is that it pictures Independent Tough Somali Warriors with their traditional weapons and traditional cloth the other one it pictures the tamed Somalis with their GAL master.
The only different is that of time no more!
Xalimah is the best of all the above comments. I love your “They have cadaan qadhmuun as leader in the second photo. Uff.”
That is wonderful walaal. Magacaa jir walaal.
